User generated content is nothing new and we’ve certainly produced our fair share in the past, but right now user generated content is really coming into its own in a remarkable way. Helping to lift spirits and joining people together like never before.
Animation that doesn’t break the bank – ITV’s ‘Don’t be a Nick Head’
The meat of the advert, as with any video, comes in its form. Here we find a relatively rough-and-ready approach that is relatively cheap to produce while in the comfort of ones own home. Nevertheless, the animation of stock-images, text on screen and simple voice over all work in tandem to transmit a quickly digestible narrative, message and joke.
Much research has been devoted, since the mid 2000s, to UGC and it’s application to advertising. Most frequently we encounter this mode of advertising on social media, through the wash of hash tags created by users or brands themselves, regardless the effects appear to be the same.
