Within the UK, air pollution in our cities continues to be the number one environmental risk to human health and is linked to around 40,000 premature deaths a year. Unabated climate change will continue to disrupt care, and affect patients and the public at every stage of our lives.
Contributing around 4% of the country’s carbon emissions, and over 7% of the economy, the NHS is both part of the current problem and an essential part of the solution for enabling the UK to meet the Net Zero targets set under the Climate Change Act.
Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation trust is doing their bit for the planet by installing ground source heat pumps, and we worked closely with them to create this animation explaining exactly how they work and the benefits they provide.
